Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.

Effective October 5, 2026

The Short Version

  • We collect your email when you join our newsletter, and the details ticketing platforms pass to us when you buy a ticket.
  • We film and photograph our events. If you are in the room, you may end up in the recap.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run ad-tracking pixels on this site.
  • You can unsubscribe, ask what we hold, or ask us to delete it at any time.

Who We Are

Girls Love Karaoke ("GLK," "we," "us") produces live karaoke and music experiences, including Girls Love Karaoke Live, in New York and in cities across the United States.

This policy covers girlslovekaraoke.net, our newsletter, and the personal information we handle when you attend or buy tickets to a GLK event. It does not cover websites and apps run by other companies, even when we link to them.

What We Collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address and a language setting. We may also record the date, time, and IP address of your sign-up as proof that you opted in.
  • Messages: anything you include when you email us or message us on Instagram, such as your name, contact details, and the content of your message.
  • On-site participation: if you sign up to sing, enter a contest or giveaway, or join an activity at an event, we collect what that sign-up asks for, usually a name or stage name and sometimes contact details.

Information from ticketing platforms

Tickets are sold through third-party platforms such as Eventbrite and our festival and venue partners. They process your payment; we never see or store your full card details. As the event organizer, we may receive your name, email address, ticket type, order details, and answers to any checkout questions.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our hosting provider and embedded services automatically receive technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and the date and time of your visit. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and measure its performance.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for sensitive information such as government ID numbers, health information, or precise location through this site. Please do not send it to us.

Photos & Video at Our Events

GLK events are filmed and photographed. That footage becomes recaps, social posts, and series like our mic'd up episodes on Instagram, YouTube, and other channels. By attending, you understand that you may appear in that content.

If you do not want to be featured, tell a GLK team member at the event, or email us after the fact with the post or video and a description of where you appear. We will make reasonable efforts to remove or blur content where you are clearly identifiable and featured. Content that has already been shared by others may be outside our control.

Who We Share With

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that run parts of our business for us, including our website host (WordPress.com, operated by Automattic Inc.) and email and ticketing tools. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
  • Event partners such as venues, festivals, and co-promoters, only to the extent needed to deliver an event you are attending, for example a guest list or entry list.
  • Authorities and advisers when the law requires it, to protect the safety of guests and staff, or to enforce our rights.
  • A successor business if GLK is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

When you click a ticket link or our Instagram link, you leave our site. Those companies collect information under their own privacy policies.

Cookies & Embedded Content

We keep this light. The site does not use advertising pixels or cross-site ad tracking today. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

  • Hosting and performance: WordPress.com may set cookies and load scripts that keep the site running and measure page speed. See Automattic's privacy policy.
  • Embedded video: our homepage includes a YouTube player. When it loads or plays, Google may set cookies and collect usage data. See Google's privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some site features may stop working if you do.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we do not track you across other websites, our site does not change its behavior in response to Do Not Track signals. Where the law requires it, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser.

Our Emails

You only get marketing emails from us if you sign up. Every one includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor opt-outs promptly. After you unsubscribe we keep your address on a do-not-email list so we do not message you again by mistake.

If you bought a ticket, we may still send you messages about that event, such as time changes or entry details, even if you are not on the newsletter.

Your Rights & Choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law.
  • Stop sending you marketing emails.

Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia, and others, may have additional rights, such as the right to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling, and the right to appeal our decision on a request. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

How to make a request: email Girlslovekaraoke@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We may need to confirm your identity, usually by checking that the request comes from the email address we have on file. You can use an authorized agent if you give them signed permission. We respond within 45 days. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we will answer the appeal within the time your state's law allows.

California "Shine the Light": we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Retention & Security

We keep newsletter information until you unsubscribe, plus the suppression record described above. We keep ticket and event information for as long as we need it to run the event and handle follow-ups, then for any period required for tax, accounting, or legal purposes. Messages are kept for as long as they are useful to answer you and handle related matters.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, and we rely on established providers to host our site and process payments. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

Our services are run from the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States.

Age

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Many GLK events are restricted to guests 21 and over; check each event listing. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. The effective date at the top always shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will post a notice on the site or email newsletter subscribers before it takes effect.
